This site provides information and links to web pages about the early modern scholar Alvarus Thomas, active in Paris at the beginning of the sixteenth century. Most of it has to do with the only known publication by him, the book De triplici motu (Paris 1509).
The site provides a census of copies of Liber de triplici motu and will update it when new copies surface.
As an illustration of Alvarus Thomas self-representation, the transcription of the book’s preface is given with a tentative English translation.
Above all, the site lists bibliographical references to studies that clarify Alvarus Thomas’ work. We will try to keep it up to date.
